We’re pleased to present the cover for The Adventures of Angus MacDonald.
Designed by Jordan Beaulieau, the cover shows off the titular Terrier, a little dog with a big personality.
The Adventures of Angus MacDonald is an illustrated book of short tales of doghood, written by a lifelong animal lover.
Lisa Childs Hughes is a long-time health care worker, counselor, and holistic practitioner. She volunteered with and was on the Board of Directors for the Kingston Humane Society, and currently volunteers with Sheba’s Haven Dog Rescue in Kingston, Ontario. Sheba’s Haven rescues dogs with life-threatening conditions and lets them live the rest of their lives in a well-balanced, caring environment.
Angus is a Scottish Terrier and a composite of every dog Lisa has had in her life – sweet, funny, smart, and a little grumpy. Dog lovers are sure to find a little bit of Angus in their own furry friends.
In addition to Lisa’s work in the health care field and her volunteer work with animals, she hosted her own radio show for two years called Women’s Word. Lisa has written for health magazines, including seven years with Complete Health Magazine. She’s written editorials for The Kingston Whig Standard and has won two CBC writing contests (poetry). She recently moved back to her hometown of Belleville, Ontario with her current dog Tyler, a spoiled Westie, who is a million times more snotty than Angus.
